Social Bookmarking Services shutting down due to SOPA Protest

Many well-known social bookmarking, social networking and web 2.0 services, like indenti.ca, tumblr, WordPress and Reddit will be shut down in the next 24-48 hours. During this time frame we will not be able to bookmark in behalf of our customers.

We will be starting over on Jan 19.

To better understand what SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) Protest means, here are the latest interviews taken from CEO of Reddit and WordPress:

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian explain why his social bookmarking site was shutting right down to protest SOPA. Both SOPA (Cease Online Piracy Act) & PIPA (Defend IP Act) are REAL threats to the Internet. If that they had existed, Steve Huffman may have never started Reddit. It's irritating to see laws that was written by politicians and not technologists perhaps turn out to be law.

Reddit could be part of the dialog and Google could be part of the conversation as a result of the thing that all sides think piracy is a bad thing. There's no one arguing piracy is an efficient thing. But censuring the Internet is certainly a bad bad thing!

What exactly does this mean?

Any web site that was felt to have infringed copyright or enabled infringement of copyright could face an American courtroom order in opposition to them. This could end in barring search engines from linking to sites. For instance, you would be unable to Google such a barred website & the courts would also require the internet service provider to dam entry to those "responsible" websites, so effectively making them seem "down".

Unauthorized streaming of copy could be a legal activity, so in America you could possibly face a jail sentence. The one technique to keep away from this seems to be for the web service supplier to take voluntary motion in opposition to web sites which can be found to be guilty of copyright infringement.

No more Google Buzz, Wave, Knol, Health and Desktop!

As part of an effort to slow down the corporate multiple tasks and put more focus on vital sectors, G it’s ending a lot of services, many of them extremely popular. Among the many greatest are Google’s bold however beneath-used collaboration tool, Wave, Twitter competitor Google Buzz, Wikipedia-like Knol, medical data engine Google Health, & PC file-searching software Google Desktop.

A whole lot of the deserted projects have simply been outmoded by newer technology. Google Wave and Google Buzz have both been overshadowed by Google Plus, which is getting much more popular from mainstream users. Google Desktop began in 2004, however its on the spot search action has been largely duplicated natively in Home windows 7 and OS X. By April of 2012 all of the above servicers will likely to be shut down (Buzz already is down).

As a result Google buzz has been removed from our bookmarking reports and replaced with Google Plus. Right now we provide links from G+ and G Bookmarks from Bookmarking Pro packages.

No adult websites for Bookmarking Pro and Bookmarking Simple™ packages

Adult oriented websites are no longer accepted on our bookmarking Pro and Bookmarking Simple packages due to the high rejecting rate. Since we cannot guarantee the exact number of remaining adult bookmarks (as they are deleted in time by the website owners), we cannot sustain this service anymore for adult websites or any link with adult content.

Still, web 2.0 bookmarking services are available with no content restriction whatsoever.

Introducing: Blog Networking Service [Experimental]

Bookmarking Pro packages now includes experimental a new category of bookmarking: Blog Networking Service. This means that we now offer backlinks from blogs. Unlike blog comment service, that only post replays on blogs (and chances of being rejected by the owners is pretty high), we create real blog networks and posts with anchor texts are in the body of every blog. So, chances of being rejected are close to zero, because we are the owners of the blogs.

Blog Networking service can be found on Bookmarking Pro platform, starting with Pack 700.

Google +1 on the stage

While Google +1 is still in beta testing, the new service is more than attractive from SEO perspective. This service is inspired from Facebook Like and will be widely spread over +1 social network, which now already has millions of users in the US. What made us decide to hurry up with this service (even is on beta stage) is the fact that backlinks from Google +1 are DoFollow which tremendously help websites to grow in search results. So, now we offer not only Google buzz and Google profiles, but also G +1. The only condition to benefit from G +1 bookmarks is to have your website listed on Google at least from your own link.

Google plus one is now available on all bookmarking pro orders, starting with package 200.

The whole system on Web 2.0 & Web 3.0 Bookmarking service has been changed.

1st thing 2st: Now accounts on web 2.0 and web 3.0 websites are not shared with other members. All anchor text links are unique and are coming exclusively from your site. Accounts on web 2.0 will host only your website exclusively.

Second: On websites with PR 3 - PR 6, we now create link wheel. What is a link wheel? Besides your anchor text link, we put on your profile the last link we post your website. This way, all the web 2.0 and web 3.0 profile sites are linked to each other. When Google spider sees one single profile with your anchor text and the last link, will be forced to go to all of them, because links lead to another profile… than to another… and another… and another!

We have decided not to create link wheels on all the website, because Google would pick up the links way to fast and this could get you sandboxed (for a while), specially on large orders, with over 10,000 web 2.0 links. So, only the most important ones will get the linkwheel, while the rest of them will be picked up gradually for safety proposes.

Third: Our Web 2.0 order form has been also updated to accept not only keywords and anchor texts, but also short profile descriptions. All of them are spin-able and it is very recommended to spin them, since you spread this information to thousands and tens of thousands of websites.

Bookmarking Pro 100 limited to 1 order/customer

Social Bookmarking industry has become more complex every month. The effort we made to keep prices low is tremendous. Don’t forget we have a team of operators behind every bookmarking project and everything is done completely manual. While on social bookmarking network we have hundreds of accounts to bookmark our customers, on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo Pulse, AOL, Netlog, Tagged, Hi5, FriendFeed, Bebo requests and restrictions based on IP/location, profile accuracy & details make our job harder to get those accounts on good standing, always fresh and very well personalized (to look genuine from real people). Those, social network is harder to get and maintain.

Since small bookmarking packages still get access to our social network accounts, we decided not to increase the price (yet) but to limit the access for small accounts (like bookmarking pro 100) to 1 testing order per customer. After that, if customer decide to continue, another package must be choose from our list from 200 to 1700 bookmarks. This way we can balance things between customers who pay serious money for bookmarking on SBM Pro and those who always use the little ones, without been needed to change the prices for all our services.

Starting with June 14 2011, our system will automatically identify and reject payments from the same customers for 100 UNIQUE Bookmarks package, starting with order #2 and if not, will be refunded manually by PayPal.

Restriction will only apply to 100 UNIQUE Bookmarks package. Rest of our Bookmarking Professional package will remain untouched as prices and no restrictions whatsoever.

Yahoo decide to remove Y! Buzz permanently

Starting with April 21 Yahoo announced imminent closer to his well-known service called Yahoo Buzz. We did notice an extended time while this service was still accessed and available for bookmarking. However, it is a certainty that Yahoo completely removed this service as of this week and will no longer be available in the future.

Therefore all our Bookmarking Professional packages will have new bookmarkings in Yahoo Profiles (to compensate the loss), while Yahoo Buzz will be removed as a bookmark.

Good News: Delicious is no longer an Yahoo service

Delicious is no longer an Yahoo Co. service. YouTube & Google share the ownership of Delicious.

From our side, as a bookmarking company we can only see the bright side, since Yahoo! managed this service on a buggy manner. When Delicious were on Yahoo custody we saw little improvements, but lots of errors and lowliness, specially on login/logout and during the bookmarking process.

Starting by May 2nd, creating account on Delicious will not be that hard using the slow e-mail from Yahoo, but using any e-mail that suits you the most. For us is a relief, since yahoo e-mail server is buggy. So that, Delicious is back on business with a friendly new bookmarking version.

Will be a pleasure for us to bookmark our customers websites on Delicious!
